Drone & camera hire in New Zealand
We’ve hired DJI gear to NZ production companies, commercial operators and creators for a long time now. These are the questions we get asked most when choosing a kit.
Which drone should I hire?
For social content and quick jobs, the Mini 5 Pro is light and easy to fly. For client work, the Mavic 4 Pro gives you the best image quality without a crew. Film and TV productions usually want the Inspire 3, and inspection or search work needs a Matrice with a thermal camera.
How many batteries do I need?
Each drone kit includes three to four. For a full day of flying, this is enough for most people when using the supplied charger to keep them going.
Hiring for a production?
We put together multi-day packages with backup airframes, extra batteries, lenses and transmission. Email us your shoot dates and we’ll quote a package.
Common questions
Every drone kit comes ready to fly: the drone, controller, batteries, charger, ND filters, a memory card and a hard case.
The same is true for handheld devices.
The exact list is on each product page, and you can add extra batteries, memory cards or filters when you book.
Most jobs can be flown under CAA Part 101 rules without a licence, as long as you follow them: stay below 120 m, keep the drone in sight, get consent before flying over people or property, and get clearance near aerodromes. Some work needs Part 102 certification. It’s your responsibility to fly within the rules, and we’re happy to talk it through when you collect.
Yes. Tick “ship to me” on the booking form and we’ll courier it anywhere in New Zealand. We’ll confirm the courier cost and delivery timing when we confirm your booking.
Get in touch as soon as you can. If the gear is free, we’ll do our best to move your dates.
Alternatively before collection, if the weather isn’t suitable and flying isn’t possible, we’re happy to cancel the booking at no cost.
