Our mission is simple: to give Kiwi pilots expert advice, genuine products and the best support in the drone industry — whether you’re buying your first drone or running an enterprise fleet.
Our story
Drone Depot was founded in 2012 by Grant Wilson, whose passion for aerial photography sparked something much bigger. Grant spent countless hours researching the latest drone technology so he could help fellow enthusiasts get the right gear and learn to fly with confidence.
Starting from a small space in Ponsonby, Auckland, Drone Depot grew quickly — and in those early years we became one of the first retailers in New Zealand to stock and service DJI drones and accessories. That early commitment to expert knowledge and hands-on experience still shapes how we work today.
Since then we’ve expanded into a larger Parnell store with a full display area and a dedicated in-house repair workshop, backed by an experienced technical team. As drone technology advances, we stay ahead of it — testing new DJI releases, updating our range, and supporting hobbyists, filmmakers, commercial pilots and enterprise operators right across New Zealand.

Est 2012
Grant founds Drone Depot in Ponsonby — among the first in NZ to stock and service DJI.
Early years
We slowly built a reputation for hands-on expertise, in house repairs & amazing service.
Growth
We outgrew our small workshop in Ponsonby, employed more staff and moved to a larger Parnell store with a full display area and dedicated repair workshop.
Today
Now we are servicing kiwi’s all over the country, have a great and knowledgeable team, and support everyone from hobbyists to enterprise fleets.
